Endoscopic examination for pancreatic fistula.

چکیده
We have conducted endoscopic examination in 5 cases of postoperative pancreatic fistula, and discuss its clinical significance. The examination provided not only an observation of the fistula but also opportunity to irrigate the fistula for removal of foreign substances. The biopsy permitted histological examination for necrotic substances and the fistulous wall. Endoscopy made it easy to introduce a drain into the affected site and to judge when to remove the drain. Closure of the fistula was also attainable using fibrin glue. Consequently, the fistulas were closed within 1 month from the examination in all cases but one, in which death resulted due to carcinoma. The examination is an easy and safe technique.

Pancreatico-Colonic Fistula after Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Cyst Drainage for Pancreatic Pseudocyst: Report of Three Cases
Endoscopic ultrasound-guided cyst drainage is increasingly performed in the treatment of pancreatic pseudocysts and walled-off pancreatic necrosis. We have experienced three cases of colonic fistula after endoscopic ultrasound-guided cyst drainage. Case #1 was a patient with walled-off pancreatic necrosis, in which a fistula into the transverse colon occurred as a late complication of endoscopi...

A 56-year-old woman with a symptomatic pancreatic pseudocyst refractory to conservative treatment was referred to us for endoscopic ultrasound-guided pancreatic pseudocyst drainage (EUSPPD). EUS showed a 12-cm cyst near the pancreatic body and tail. The cyst was punctured using a 19-gauge fine needle aspiration (FNA) needle from the stomach under EUS imaging, after careful examination of the in...
متن کاملRecurrent Pleural Effusion Secondary to a Pancreatic-Pleural Fistula Treated Endosmotically
BACKGROUND Pancreatic-pleural fistula (PPF) is an uncommon complication of pancreatitis. Pleural effusions secondary to PPF are caused by fistulization of pancreatic secretions to the thorax derived from the rupture or leakage of a pseudocyst. CASE REPORT We describe the case of a 44-year-old male with recurrent right-sided pleural effusions and alcoholic pancreatitis who presented with epigast...

Pancreatic fistula (PF) is an important complication that may develop during intra-abdominal surgeries and following distal pancreas trauma. In the early period, drainage from the surgical site and increased amylase production based on the biochemical examination of the drainage fluid are the factors for diagnosis. In contrast, in association with fluid collected from the surgical site, intra-a...

A 53-year-old man had a history of alcohol-induced chronic pancreatitis. In July 2011, because of suspicion of a pseudocyst infection, he had undergone endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided cyst drainage. Further investigation after drainage had revealed a fistula between the pancreatic pseudocyst and descending colon; however, the transgastric internal drainage tubewas left in place because of th...
